salon and spa kids 2014-2020 website design

Hair Salon and Spa for Kids

Salon & Spa Kids is a full-service hair salon, spa, and party place for kids located in Pikesville, MD, from 2014 to 2020.

This project was a rebranding of a previously closed hair salon for kids. Shortly after taking over the salon, the new owner renamed it Salon & Spa Kids. With new kid-friendly spa services and newly created party themes, the owner wanted a website that would highlight the expanded menu of services and give customers a peek into the newly remodeled salon and spa for kids!

In addition to creating a new website, I assisted the owner with redirecting and setting up new business owner accounts on customer review sites and Facebook. Because of negative customer reviews about the previous salon, wiping the slate clean to establish a fresh start online was critical in introducing Salon & Spa Kids to the local community.

Launch: February 2014
Original Design: Salon & Spa Kids (Internet Archive, October 2014)

The owner requested a redesign to add color to the website to match the logo. The original website design was not viewable on various devices and in various window or screen sizes. With more people accessing their phones and tablets to search the internet, it was necessary to redesign the website with a responsive theme.

In addition to the initial request, I added on-page SEO keywords and phrases on all business pages. I changed the photo gallery to allow for more straightforward navigation. I added an Instagram feed to view salon photos from staff and tagged photos from customers directly on the website.

Final update

The business was transitioned to new ownership in 2020, and the website is no longer active. The website’s archive retrieval is a snapshot only and does not present the full capabilities of the former published site version.
