After self-hosting Sista Naturall for several years, the owner wanted to lower expenses and simplify website management. Aware of her desire to offer print-on-demand products through Printful, I recommended transitioning to Big Cartel. This platform is ideal for creators and small businesses due to its ease of use and affordability. Additionally, I moved existing blog posts from the self-hosted platform and imported them into a WordPress.com blog account, ensuring seamless continuity of blog content.

While Sista Naturall’s e-commerce shop and blog now reside on separate platforms, this division significantly reduces the owner’s expenses and simplifies website management. This streamlined approach empowers her to focus on what truly matters – creating and promoting print-on-demand products and engaging with her audience through insightful blog posts.

Self-Hosted Solution 2020 – 2023

Since its initial launch, Sista Naturall has evolved into a multi-faceted website by offering self-care products, brand merchandise, an ebook, and client booking for hair braiding appointments.

The original website was built on self-hosted WordPress, and WooCommerce powered the online shop. The owner already had a blogging background using WordPress.com, so our video-based training sessions focused on learning how to use the block editor and maintaining a self-hosted website. The owner also trained on adding on-page SEO keywords, creating and managing listings on WooCommerce, and creating marketing emails using Mailchimp.

2022 Update

Sista Naturall was redesigned under a new domain sistanaturall.online. The new website was built on WordPress and powered by WooCommerce, maintaining the same functionality as the original website. The redesign introduced a new logo that combined the product/service offerings to align more with the owner’s interests and personality.
